Description 690 MARKET STREET - the Chronicle Building is located at the northeast intersection of Market, Geary and Kearny Streets, Lot 6 in Assessor’s Block 311 - Consideration of adoption of a resolution recommending to the Board of Supervisors approval on a proposal to designate the subject property as Category II (Significant) per Article 11 of the Planning Code. The subject property consists of two sections: a nine-story plus mezzanine office tower originally designed by Burnham & Root in 1887 and constructed in 1889-90, enlarged in 1905 by D.H. Burnham & Co. and reconstructed in 1908 by Willis Polk. An eight story addition was constructed in 2007. The property is within a C-3-O (Downtown Office) District and a 285-S Height and Bulk District. The property is currently undesignated and is not within a Conservation District.
