About calls for service
Since San Francisco's 311 system was launched in 2007, residents have made more than 6 million requests for services — from calls about sewer problems to requests for graffiti removal. In this section of EveryBlock, we publish information about service calls from across San Francisco, so you can see what's happening near you.
The calls are reported by San Francisco's 311 Customer Service Center. Residents can call 311 within San Francisco or (415) 701-2311 to make a request, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Residents also can make requests at the request for services page.
Each request report includes the call's time, date and location, the supervisor's district where it occurred and the type of request that was made.
Each report also includes information on the type of request that was made, such as street defects, complaints about graffiti, damaged property reports or sewer issues, among others.

The data comes from the 311 index, part of the DataSF.org data file repository. San Francisco adds new service requests each day and we at EveryBlock add new reports each day as well.
What else should I know about service requests?
Not all calls made to the 311 center appear in this data. Requests about dog licensing, starting a business or building code information are among the types of information not yet included. San Francisco officials are working to provide more types of service requests in the data.
When residents make service requests, they generally are asked for a location (address or intersection) and a description of the problem. Most requests can be made anonymously, but residents who go that route can't check the status of their requests later.
To check the status of requests, residents can go to the Track Service Request page.
San Francisco also provides a frequently asked questions page for more information about service requests.
