All in all, Urban Tavern isn't a miss, but it isn't the hit it wants to be either. For the price you pay, the atmosphere, which is definitely on the austere side, and the existing service would probably drive most diners to take their hard-earned dollars elsewhere.

At about 3:50 a.m. today, a man got into an argument with someone and was found suffering from stab wounds on the 300 block of Ellis Street. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.
