The first murder claimed the life of Darius Cooper-Brooks, 26, of San Francisco. That murder, a shooting, happened around 6:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of Newcomb Avenue, San Francisco police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.

17th St. has it’s challenges, but should result in significant improvements on an important East-West Bicycle Route. Stretching from Corbett St. in the Castro to Kansas St. in Potrero Hill, this project will add bike lanes on the whole stretch. The preferred design option calls for parking removal on the stretch between Harrison and Kansas, and lane narrowing on the western portion. Train track crossings present some issues, but can be solved by shifting the bike.

The Wi-Fi is being provided by Meraki, a South of Market hardware company that is slowly building a wireless network as a way to showcase its "repeater" technology. On Saturday, police say, 19-year-old Caprisha Green, a mother of a 1-year-old daughter, was shot and killed in the 1000 block of Connecticut Street about 10:25 p.m. She was outside her unit at the Potrero Hill projects with several friends at the time.
