    A man in a red 1990 Acura apparently drag racing down South Van Ness Street on Sunday fled the scene after hitting the back of a parked silver Mitsubishi, splitting a tree in two and crashing into a duplex at 857 South Van Ness St.

    Susan Moorehead, who lives across the street on 870 South Van Ness St., saw the red Acura drag racing at what seemed like 100 miles an hour with a blue hatchback car when it lost control and ran head on into the residence. The blue car never stopped.

    Twenty-one-year-old Michael Sanchez was shot and killed on the corner of 24th and Shotwell streets at 7:10 p.m. Friday night in an incident police believe to be gang related. Another victim was also shot but is in stable condition, according to a crime alert from Captain Stephen Tacchini.
