Fireworks set off in garage cause duplex fire
It took 40 minutes to put out the fire Thursday afternoon in the garage at 118 Second Street, said Richmond police Lt. Mark Gagan. Damage was estimated at hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage, gutting the one of duplex units and damaging the other.

S.F. police rule woman's death a homicide
Maria Lourdes Tamayo-Gomez was found late on June 14 at her apartment at 795 Geary St. She had been dropped off earlier that day by a friend. Her death has been determined to be a homicide, manner undetermined, by the chief medical examiner's office, said Lt. Mike Stasko of the homicide unit.

As an example, 2721 Pierce had fireplaces in every bedroom. No forced heat, except on the first floor. It sold for $1000 psft in 2005. Absolutely beautiful interior, but no heat. They probably would have had to wreck the interior to add it, so they passed.
