Rodeo Beach was one of several Bay Area beaches and shorelines shut down and cleaned up after Novembers spill of 58,000 gallons of bunker oil into the San Francisco Bay from fuel tanks that ruptured in the container ships collision with a bumper on the Bay Bridge. After several weeks of intense clean-up efforts Rodeo was reopened.
