A sign posting the parking ban - the hours when cars will be ticketed unless they relocate - is almost completely hidden by a mature leafy tree.

A UC Berkeley student whose body was found outside his apartment building the day after he graduated died as a result of a fall, but why he fell is still not known, authorities said Monday. Alan Kaname Hamai, 22, of Redondo Beach (Los Angeles County) was discovered shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday outside 2605 Durant Ave., a three-story apartment building near Bowditch Street, a block south of camps.

And Robert Reed, a spokesman at Norcal Waste Systems, the city's garbage-collection company, said there are 10 t0 15 percent fewer plastic bags at the Pier 96 recycling facility. San Francisco does not allow residents to recycle soft plastic, but many people still put the sacks in their blue recycling containers, causing headaches at sorting facilities.

I think a good apples to apples comparison for Pac Heights/Cow Hollow is 2828 Divisadero. It sold back in 05 for $5.25 million and even had a reduction or two during the comparatively lengthy time it spent on the market. It just sold again for $7.5 million a couple of weeks ago. It was never really on the open market and it hadn't undergone a significant remodel in the interim. That equates to about 10% annual appreciation, right? Of course, there could be a back story here that I don't know...
