SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ― A man in his 40s was found dead from a stab wound just a few blocks from the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in San Francisco early Monday morning, said Sgt. Wilfred Williams. A passerby saw the unidentified man, who was stabbed in the chest, dead on the ground around 12:30 a.m. at Thomas Avenue and Griffith Street in the city's Bayview District, said Williams. Police have not arrested anyone in connection with the incident. The killing was the 34th homicide in San Francisco this year, according to police.

A three-week-old Sunset District double murder case in San Francisco was thrown into upheaval Monday afternoon after a teenage witness to the shooting admitted in court that she lied to police investigators about the possible involvement of another man in the shooting -- a man who is now apparently missing. Matthew Owyang, 19, of Daly City, has been held in custody since April 1 on $20 million bail for the March 29 fatal shootings of Jason de la Cruz, 31, of Daly City, and Derek Butch, 23, of San Francisco, at 2:30 a.m. outside of an Irving Street pizzeria.
