  • Embarcadero BART Off-duty Fremont cop charged in post-concert beating

    BART officials said Maurer attacked 41-year-old Nicholas Jackalone on June 8 after the firefighter's wife pointed out that Maurer was leaning against the door of a Muni train taking fans away from a Kenny Chesney concert at AT&T Park. The attack allegedly continued inside the Embarcadero BART Station.

  • Ferry Building SF Fireworks Show To Affect Traffic, Transit

    Shuttle buses to Pier 39 and Aquatic Park will begin running at 2 p.m. Friday on the Embarcadero and Bay Street, transit officials said. Sixty shuttles will bring riders from the Caltrain Fourth and King streets station, from the Ferry Building, and from Van Ness Avenue and Market Street.

    When the Healthy San Francisco program began at two Chinatown clinics July 2, 20o7, public health officials said they would swing open the doors to all of the city's 73,000 uninsured residents on Jan. 1, 2008. They anticipated people would enroll gradually at a pace of about 600 a week, and full coverage would be attained by the end of this year.
